Ministry to God and for God
We are used to 'fasting and prayers,' not to 'fasting and worship' – fasting for the purpose solely of ministering "to the Lord." For the prophets and teachers at the church in Antioch, it was not so. We often see fasting as a tool for compelling God to hear and solve our petitions. For the ministers at the church in Antioch, it was as well a channel of worship. Like every human, those worshippers also had petitions, still they worshipped. They had leaned not only to supplicate but also to praise, fasting. You may have known 'fasting and prayers'; try also 'fasting and praise.'
